Ripples
The Waves of transience

The German progressive / art rock band Experimental Artificial Sphere will release another longtrack from the upcoming album “Paradigms” on 26 April 2024. The song is called “Ripples” and, for once, is not an original composition but was written by Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. It was originally recorded and released by progressive rock pioneers Genesis on their 1976 album “A Trick Of The Tail”. The melancholy lyrics are about the fleeting nature of beauty that comes with ageing. The ripples in the chorus symbolise this fading away. The lyric line “Blue girls come in every size” was also inspired by the poem “Blue Girls” by John Crowe Ransom. “Ripples” is still a ballad-like cult song among prog fans today because it is a mixture of sentimental mood and artful musicality.

Sphere Commander André Fedorow on mellotron, RMI piano & Taurus bass pedals was joined by musicians such as Nathan King (Level 42 / Frost*) – electric guitar, Simon Moskon (The Cryptex) – piano, Raquel Schüler (Hydria) – vocals, Niko Becker – drums and Horacio Valdivieso – acoustic guitars.
